A Sore Biochemistry Story

The story is about a mRNA, who felt lonely. So he pulled over a ribosome to translate himself a protein for company.

He said to the protein: Hi, I'm your template.

"Hi, I'm RNase." The protein replied.

There was silence for a very short while, and the mRNA continued: Never mind, I won't live for long anyway. Why not we spend some time together?

"Ok." The protein said.

Then they stood side by side for a while. Suddenly the protein said: Actually I'm not RNase yet.

mRNA: Er.

Protein: I'm now just a polypeptide.

mRNA smiled.

Protein: But I'll become real RNase very soon.

mRNA: It's ok. Eventually I'll die anyway.

Protein stayed close to mRNA. He slowly began to twist, fold and make up himself. He looked more and more like a real RNase. Meanwhile, the mRNA started to degrade.

Protein: I think I'd better leave, maybe you can live longer without me.

mRNA: Don't, don't leave. I have something to tell you.

mRNA: You know, I used to have a template as well, his name is DNA.

Protein: Where is he now?

mRNA: He has been sleeping for very long time. His promoter was switched off.

Protein: Who did that? Will he ever wake up again?

mRNA: It was me.

And then he smiled: But he will wake up. As long as I'm gone, he'll wake up.

mRNA continued: I remembered the time I was just transcribed, the DNA said to me, hi, I'm your template. I said, hi, I'm mRNA. Then he smiled and said, nice to meet you. Then he slowly fell asleep.

Protein didn't say anything.

"I missed him a lot." mRNA's voice started to fade, "I'm vanishing. If he wakes up, and happens to meet you, would you say hi to him one more time for me?"

And then the mRNA was degraded.

DNA slowly woke up and saw a little protein standing by, looking at him carefully.

Protein: Hi, I am RNase.

DNA: Hi, I am DNA.

Protein: Hi.

Protein: This second Hi, is from mRNA.

DNA remembered, last time before he fell asleep, he just transcribed a mRNA, but he only said a hi before he fell asleep.

DNA: Where is the mRNA now?

Protein replied without an answer: mRNA said he missed you so much.

DNA smiled: I miss him as well.

Protein: He has already degraded.

…

Protein: But sometimes I would rather be like him.

DNA: Why?

Protein looked at DNA for seconds: Because you miss him as well.

Protein felt wet suddenly; he was crying.....and then he hydrolyzed.

DNA finally transcribed another mRNA.

DNA: Hi. I am your template.

mRNA: Hi. I am mRNA.

DNA looked at him, softly said: You look like him, actually exactly the same.

mRNA: Who?

DNA: Oh, another mRNA I transcribed last time.

He paused and said: You two look just the same.....why......why am I still missing him so much?.....

DNA closed his eyes again...........

Paid Experiment Experience

Warning: Long ranting post coming up! With disturbing(?) images!! LOL

Out of sheer curiosity and enticed by the high payment, I registered for an experiment which I saw on ivle. Don't jump to conclusion arh, it wasn't to be a hamster for some crazy torturous experiment... In fact, I didn't anticipate any form of pain/ horror. But the 3rd and final stage of the experiment really gave me the worst experience I had in years.

We were warned before hand that a little amount of blood will be taken at the end and I honestly thought it was so cool (having never donated blood before but strangely enthusiastic about it) I was worried, not about the process being painful but whether I would still be paid if they are unable to get the blood hahaha XD see $$$ eyes open

After completing 2 stages of the experiment (just filling in stuff and abit of math X_X) we were told to choose the time slots for the 3rd stage and I chose a slot the next day around 10.30am after my physics test. Now this is where I think the 1st problem came in. I remember checking the website to see what I would be expected to do in the 3rd stage but there was no information whatsoever.

T_____T so imagine my discomfort when I stepped into the venue and saw a group of ppl queuing to have their blood taken.

There were 2 qualified pros taking blood, one was a nurse in her fifties or sixties and the other was a young phlebotomist -- a very pretty lady wahaha. I was like ....... when it was my turn and the nurse was the one who took me. But she took a look at my arms and said 'My eyesight is not that good, I don't want to take risks.' and passed me on to the phlebotomist LOL

I was there feeling squirmish because there was this guy a few turns before mine who couldn't get his blood out and he was looking kinda impatient and upset. Ok cutting to the chase, the lady turned my arm here and there and literally explored the whole of my arm from the wrist to the elbow XD but she was very gentle when pressing to feel for the vein. After quite some time, she finally chose a point and took out the alcohol wipe.

Mood at that time: =DD!!!!

It wasn't painful when the needle went in, neither was it painful when she poked the needle left and right when it was already under my skin. Just painful to look at haha! I was relieved when the blood began to flow into the syringe because that meant success =D Was clenching my fist very tightly even before she inserted the needle cos she said that it would increase blood flow.. and I was rather desperate for the blood to flow XD But after awhile, the blood stopped filling the syringe no matter how she drew =((((((( and I could see that the quota had not been reached yet, oh noesss =( She decided to try the other arm.

The worst thing came when she took out the needle and released the arm band thingy.

The moment the pressure from the band was gone, my vision went hazy around the edges and there was this horrible ringing in my ears. It felt as if sound was being sucked out from my ears because the background noise faded away until I could only hear the guy in charge who was giving instructions to the rest of the ppl behind me.. It was a horrible feeling and I was helplessly scared T___T So frightened that I was going to lose my hearing forever or that I would fall from the chair... That was the extent of how weak I felt

I'm not kidding about how nasty it felt... had an urge to just lie down and sleep off the ringing in my ears.

Wasn't even aware of what was going on in front of me already.. It appeared that she had already moved on to my left hand and was going to insert the needle. I had no strength to clench my fist this time and she had to remind me X_X The pain kinda brought me back.. which was strange cos it didn't hurt at all for my right hand. A bit of internal poking and she took out the needle completely, only to insert it 2mm below the 1st hole O_o that hurt too =XX

Quite funny as I think back now, I was beyond care at that point, would very much prefer that she cut my arm and collect the dripping blood-- faster too. Just wanted to leave the place asap and return home to zzz

Now peeps, don't be like me k. If anything feels wrong during this kind of situation must tell the doctor at once. I didn't speak up cos i felt too sick to even speak and it would be kinda embarrassing if they made a fuss.

Anyway i must have looked really bad cos the phlebotomist stopped whatever she was doing and asked if i wanted to take a break and she said that I look blue -__- I think i simply agreed to whatever they suggested, took my bag and left the room.

Anime Festival Asia X

Operation Zettai Ryouiki success! ;D

This post is not a review of AFAX nor will it cover any events. Will be writing about my 'adventures' which is of no relevance to ppl who do not know me/ are looking for complete write ups =)))

Anime festival Asia 2010 or AFAX was held in Singapore on the 13th to 14th of november. This marks my 2nd time attending. My attention was more on the cosplayers (especially since HxH ppl were going to show up) and not the exhibitions, which I felt were kinda unexciting. But let's talk about the exciting stuff shall we =D

Note: Extremely detailed descriptions coming up, please don't take me as a stalker. I am but a mere fangirl.

My main goal was to take photos of and with the hxh cosplayers wahaha pretty narrow I admit but oh well, that's me. Kept looking out for the hxh cosers the moment I arrived at suntec but didn't see any. Was at the animax dubbing section when I turned to my right and spotted a dainty figure with silver hair holding onto a skateboard and an unopened lollipop coming my way. Couldn't take my eyes off him, it was too risky lest I lost sight of him among the sea of people.

Inner voice: Killua killua killua killua killua killua

I don't exactly recall what I was doing ie gaping/ alerting janice/ smsing LOL but these were my train of thoughts

Inner voice: Take picture, take picture oh wait, see if he's meeting up with the rest of the group then boomz, take a group photo. Oh wait, start thinking of poses too, you dont want to mess up the photo. And I hope I get to see the rest too---- blablabla

Like some stupid action flick I actually suggested to Janice that we follow him XD

Me: Janice! Follow the white hair guy while I reply a sms

Janice: Usu boss! Who's he?

Me: KILLUA

Janice: Oh, from where?

Me: HUNTER X HUNTER

Now that was kinda funny cos I've been ranting to Janice about how much I wished to meet the hxh ppl and i've been babbling to her about the series on almost a monthly basis for around 5 years? HAHA exaggeration.

Can't remember if I replied the sms in the end cos the opportunity came much earlier than expected when a group of 3 or 4 girls ambushed Killua near the entrance and requested to take a photo with him. Before he picked up his bag to leave, I popped the question too LOL

I got a 1:1 photo with Killua! Hah! Take that, group of girls who beat me to taking photo with him XD

Pretty much in bliss for the rest of the day. End of story. Hahahaha naahh I also saw Shizuku when returning from lunch but she was setting up deme-chan (and blowing her nose -so cute!!-) so i left her alone and went into the hall to see if I could spot other hxh cosplayers. Managed to see Killua again. He was with a group of friends (not cosplaying)

Could have asked for another photo but chose not to in the end because

1. didn't want to scare Killua with my creepy enthusiasm

2. might die from an overdose of happiness if I got another photo with him

No luck meeting Kuroro, went out again to find shizuku =) this time she was ready

Also requested for a photo with the very good looking Ichigo, who was cosing alone the entire time =D he was rather good, I saw a variety of poses from him and he made an effort to change his pose for every photo =) me likey very muchy

Lots of vocaloid cosplays. Beautiful and elaborate costumes. Some Mikus were very sweet looking while others looked ok, but all appreciated=D

Saw Nurarihyon cosplays too haha 2 Nura Rikuos, 1 Nurarihyon (only because the hair was elongated straight to the back and not to the side O_o) and a Zen sama XD

Kuroro was elusive and successfully evaded my spider radar =( Danchou, I will definitely meet you next time! -heads towards the east-
