And so they chose Kyubei

For the video shoot on wednesday. I submitted these photos.. Felt a little embarrassed while compiling them to show here but XDXD it's a good milestone I guess ^^

-photo removed just in case I need them for another shoot oops-

Got the wig from Yz (THANKS SO MUCH) on tuesday and did my best to style the pony tail. Spammed a lot of gel and hair spray but it's much more accurate to the character than when I first cosed kyubei 2 years ago :))))

I woke up at 7am, ate bread, did make up and left the house at 8.15ish. Ran a little late because I was a little slow on the make up that day. My fault for starting with my right eye makeup when usually I do my left first.

Despite knowing that my left eye was going to be covered by the eye patch, I insisted on doing the make up for both eyes because I die die wanted to look presentable on the train. So on went the eye shadow, eye liner, fake crease and lower lashes. I didn't put on the top lashes because based on past experience the lashes would get squished and ruined by the eye patch and I didn't want to spoil my pretty lashes. I chose to use the dramatic lower lashes. They look really really drama in real life but very natural and pretty in photos. Every time I use them, I get a shock because they look like caterpillars hahaha you get the idea.

After I was done, looked at myself in the mirror and thought I looked really goth with my super drama lower eye make up. It wasn't bad looking, but really gothic and emo looking LOL because I didn't have my top lashes. Now I know how to look gothic, more power to me wheeeee! No photo cos I was running a little late that day OTL should have taken one.

Met up with Kai at xxx mrt and took a bus to the place in the park. We were on time yay! The 2 other cosers arrived after a while and surprise!! I knew them too!! Haha we were all from the CCS team. No surprise actually, since I got to know about this shoot from her fb status.

I put on my wig and reluctantly, the eye patch because it's not nice at all to lose the sight in one eye. But the eye patch had to go on because I could fix the wig position only when the eye patch was in place.. bo bian :/ so that was that. Then I tried to stick on my top lashes with only 1 eye OTL it was not possible LOL totally forgot that I stick it on with the eye closed, seeing out of the other eye. So off came the eye patch for a while.

Lashes went on smoothly and tada *__* Im just looking at this photo and wondering if people will believe it's this same girl who usually has slits for eyes. No filter or edits okay XDXD my zipai skills have improved.

I hope people won't recognise me, especially since the director kept asking us to act crazily, and we have absolutely no idea how the video looks. It's just one of the many scenes in a short video so don't expect too much okay XD

The make up artist was a nice lady who was there to do make up for the models, including us but we usually do our own so we didn't need her help. Towards the end, she helped to tidy up our frizzy wigs and while working on mine, she complimented me on my make up *______* I was so happy guys :))) Sure she only saw one eye and it's pretty generic make up but I was so happy. From knowing nothing about skin care, to sticking false eye lashes and drawing fake creases. :') There's so much more to learn and improve on (Y) I've never been happy with my contouring.

The shoot itself was..... alright. It was ok.... We were just a little uptight I guess and the director wanted us to be more high and act crazily. I tried to comply and honestly have no idea how it all turned out since we weren't shown any of the video footage. Yea.. so the only not so ideal part was that I have not the slightest idea how the end product will be like, or how our performance was. The director, videographer and the crew all treated us civilly. Director san even came out and thanked us after our scene was finished. It ended at 11.30am on the dot which was the stated end time. I guess it's good that ours was the first scene to be shot, since the filming would probably drag as time passes.

It's ironic that we don't have a proper group photo despite taking selfies for almost an hour. They were all taken using a crew's phone OTL

So yea, my 4th shoot this semester. I should never have said that I wouldn't have any shoots until after graduation XD

Fulfilling week

I feel so lazy nowadays XD it's a good feeling

This week was fun! Went back lab on Monday to clean up some stuff and filmed the group project video. Had dinner with the NUS cosers at pgp where two of the guys personally cooked for all 10 of us!! It was amazing despite the long wait for food haha I tried my best to help with the cutting and washing of vegetables... Washing in general hahaha check out my yandere look
Which a friend who is in the know snapped a photo of and immediately sent to him -__-!!!!

Met up with some of the ninjas on Tuesday. We went into wild honey, sat down, looked at the menu and decided to eat else where LOL went to ippudo which was one floor up. The ramen is good!! I should have taken out the ball of shredded ginger though x_x I thought it was spring onion or the like. So the only bad part was the taste of ginger in almost every bite. Had expensive cake and pancakes after that and we randomly decided to go teo heng!!!! Oh man I've fantasised about going singing since last year and so I jumped at the chance despite my crying wallet.

Thursday was my final lecture and group presentation in nus. It ended on a good note with the lecturer complimenting our creative take on the topic (Y)

I just got half a confirmation for a paid shoot as part of some video thingy :D if it goes through, this will be the first time I get paid for doing a cosplay wheee~ :D I'll know what character they want on monday, hope it's not the Bubble card aka the mermaid cos I can barely walk in the tail. I was too enthusiastic and sent photos of all the coses I had at hand for them to choose, which includes the mermaid because honestly it's ready to be worn with no props or much preparation needed. I have a feeling they'll choose Kyubei, Cater, or the Bubble card, maybe Bisca because of her bright green hair. The rest have black hair and are male coses.... Lower chances unless the client is already a fan of the series and knows the character.

*edit: they chose kyubei XD glad to cos her again!

I'm helping out with a shoot at utown tomorrow and going to celebrate a friend's birthday in the evening at clarke quay!

So exciting right!! haha I'm still studying for exams okay don't worry

Plenty of sun this weekend

Thesis has been submitted!!

I went out every single day to meet friends and do stuff, even on the day of submission itself... What happened to my nua life???? Honestly I don't think I can revert fully to the slack life I had before FYP started. Then again, my freedom has just started so we'll see. I really miss staying at home and doing nothing though. My wallet is also crying T_____T

Thursday after submitting I just nuaed outside lab and spoke with the phd student while waiting for the rain to stop. Then I met yuhsuan for dinner at bugis, we had ramen which was really delicious!! Yuhsuan is so strong HAHA fighting!! Also collected my Azusa costume which fits me so well but the wig is terrible =_=

Friday, after group project meeting in the morning I met Kai to go cosplay shopping aka trip to daiso for cheapo stuff. I had a hair cut and I requested the hairdresser to cut off all the brown sections of my hair (from the previous dye). The final length is shorter than I expected but still longer than my previous drastic cut. I managed to find all the things I needed at daiso. I love daiso.

Saturday I vacuumed the house and went to help out at a gintama shoot at chinese garden. It was so much fun seeing them derp around. LOL they're really a crazy bunch of people who might be more weird than the YYYYYs. We are like.. normal compared to that group. I also realised an issue which might be a potential problem. Fortunately he knows that it was not quite right though I'm not sure if he understands the severity of it, or maybe i'm over thinking things. We'll need to work things out slowly I guess.

Today aka sunday I had my brothers conflict shoot, at botanical garden and omg it was so freaking humid. I was cosing Azusa Asahina, wore long sleeves and a blazer with black pants, not forgetting the bound chest and a wig. So much for deciding not to cosplay until after graduation, I've done 3 shoots since the start of the year -__- anyways this is my first spectacles character and I'm actually happy with my eye make up.

A sneak peek. I'm so jealous that I'll never be as good looking as some of my friends, or as cute as them. -sad face- Like.. not here not there, not cute nor shuai. Pretty also not extremely pretty even with make up on. And I got told twice that I'm small sized today and I felt so helpless because I don't look manly enough. It wasn't a very nice feeling because I'm not exactly short and petite.. And I consider myself to be of a good build to cosplay guy characters. I just felt so helpless :(

Sometimes I don't realise how skinny I am until I see photos of myself looking like a stupid stick. And the only fat thing is my face -_- LOL ok i'm sorry for being angsty. It was overall a good shoot and I was just mainly unhappy with my wig which was modified from my takao wig so it's not the best for Azusa. Darn the taobao wig which was cut too short by the seller.. I'm going to get another one.

Bye bye thesis (soon)

I see the light at the end of the tunnel so clearly *_____* left with half the discussion, future directions and conclusion, and lots of proof reading.

Submitted my first draft on friday after I finally got my blots that same morning and could stop all experiments. I actually did the bulk of the writing on friday itself LOL desperation does wonders, it creates miracles. Amazing.

Prof was ultimately my savior.. My problem for the IP was that when the bottom part of the blot showed what I wanted, the top part always had a pull down in the vector lanes which is a big no no and makes everything invalid.

It turned out I should never ever use the mouse primary antibody because the beads I was doing the pulldown with are mouse beads. OTL I always thought I was simply doing a beads pulldown, not antibody so the secondary antibody I use doesn't matter. Who would have thought that the beads were from mouse or whatever???? And it's just my luck that I have the option of choosing either mouse or rabbit for the primary antibody I'm using, and I was just alternating between the two without much thought.

Ah wells so anyways so after prof pointed it out on thursday, I imm ran the samples for that blot which I want to use the bottom part of, and developed it on friday. Spent the whole afternoon sitting in lab and writing like.. 60% of the thesis and sent it to prof in the evening before going home.

Saturday felt sooooooooo good, finally a day when I don't have to go lab. I woke up early anyways because 8am has become my natural waking time but it felt so good to know that I didn't have to do any more experiments, not on sunday nor on monday ^______^ really I've been going to lab every single day for quite some time. I feel a little more rested.

And so we had our first date. He's so precious :) and he passed my silent noodle slurping test!

Tuesday 1 April 2014

I take my words back

I can't believe it happened so quickly.. I've known him since December of 2012, from the Fairy Tail shoot. He's very kind, funny and well liked by our group of cos friends, always taking up old man characters or characters with ridiculous costumes/ covered faces.

After knowing that I have a LINE account, he asked to add me. That was about a month ago and we exchanged stickers occasionally which then became convos mixed with stickers. The diabolik lovers shoot which he helped out at came and went and I think that was when I started feeling a little differently towards him. I still remember him sending me photos of Kanato's Teddy during dinner after the shoot while we were seated at different tables. It was nothing really, because I didn't think he was looking for a relationship and I had my other r/s stuff to worry over.

So two weeks or so of line chatting continued. This morning after I told him I was starting lab work and that we'll talk later, he said "let's date" and followed it up with a few lovey stickers. I was like /////// but didn't reply and tried to wash my IP beads as best as I could. Then he said it was his friend who typed the things (are we in primary school where people hijack keyboards lol)

I made a joke like wahhh his friend wants to date me but he so honestly clarified that his friend wanted me and him to go out. I asked what he thought of the idea and he just said that he was shy XD I replied that I was shy too. And he went "Shall we try then?" I confirmed and double confirmed that it was him I was talking to (not the friend) and that it was not an april fools joke. Then he asked if I was free on saturday. Now, friends, I'm in the midst of rushing my thesis which is due next thursday. But I still said I was free LOL because of what had happened, I couldn't finish my breakfast and barely ate anything solid for lunch, it was my nerves I guess.

After that was just us talking more sweet nonsense, in between my experiments and thesis writing, and making plans to cook together. I very frankly told him that all I've put in a pot/pan to cook was instant noodles and eggs and that the heavy pan was not encouraging at all hahaha I think we'll be making sushi!

I know it's really sudden and ????? hahaha I feel bewildered myself, like has this really happened? Will I wake up suddenly only to realise that it's a dream? Maybe it'll sink in better after meeting him this week.

He has a child like quality which I find endearing and doesn't act cool at all, very sincere. I admit, he's not close to the charming, charismatic and mature kind of guy I've always had in mind but I feel happy that things have progressed this way and even if things end up less than ideal, even if I end up deleting this post in the future, I'm really on cloud nine now (minus the looming thesis deadline)
