I had a crazy weekend! So many new experiences and insights, really overwhelming! Photoshoot on saturday, saikang for shoot on sunday and band at night.
Unfortunately I didn't take any photos using my phone, so this post will be all text.
Was quite excited about the shoot on saturday so I didn't sleep well on friday -sheepish laugh- so much for trying to get my beauty sleep. Also I timed my skin maintenance wrongly and ended up making a pimple super obvious on the day of the shoot (it popped and disappeared the next day.. what's the point man.)
Met some of the Dialovers team to get the cloth on saturday morning after doing up my make up. Mum was really nice to drive me to the meeting place, also cos my dad's workplace is around that area lah ^^ The few of us walked around a lot and managed to get the cloth and discussed more about the project. The tailor should not be a problem now (Y) I need to worry about my shoes though.
Left for the shoot which was supposed to be at fort canning park. The meeting place was at singapore arts museum but I didn't know how to get there so I walked like the entire perimeter of the side of fort canning park facing park mall, ie a whole lot, before finally making it to the museum. I was in a mess... went to cool down in the toilet and touched up a little on my make up before meeting the team at the basement.
Everything was more of less ok from there. As I predicted, the dress was really hard to walk in after sticking on the white strip at the bottom and it was especially going up the stairs. On the way from the museum to fort canning my left leg threatened to cramp up more than twice and I was once again perspiring a lot after reaching the shooting place.
Personally, I thought the shoot was a great experience, the people I interacted with were nice and helpful and the photographers were professional, responsive and had good ideas. Everything was lovely hahaha. I was actually really thirsty for most part of the shoot though, will definitely remember to bring a huge water bottle and carry it with me at all times next event or shoot.
Some of the photos are out and omg they're so beautiful. The group shots, the individual shots, everything. Was I really that fair, were my eyes that big and was my skin so flawless and glowy? LOL don't mean to sound zi lian but I really love the photos. Honestly I've never seen myself looking so pretty before x__x It's amazing. And I guess this is partly why cosplay is so addictive.
Here are some links of the photoshoot albums which are still being updated I believe here and here :DDDDb
For this I have to thank the photographers -kowtows- photography may be their hobby but what else is in it for them? Gratitude from cosplayers, fame and recognition (some lah) within the community and I realised another reason on sunday haha they get to test out their lens and equipment and all that lighting stuff XD
Being a helper for a shoot aka the saikang warrior is another experience entirely.
Things you help the cosers with (definitely not an exhaustive list):
Put on costume
Put on wig and comb it
Help think of poses
Carry stuff
Fan to keep them cool
Hunt for suitable shooting spots
Set up the spot or scatter petals or throw stuff to create dynamic effects for the photo
Pick up whatever you scattered
Flick the wig to make it seem like it's flying in the non existant wind
Make sure they don't zao geng
Touch up on make up, wig or costume whenever needed
Help the cosers climb trees
and many more! It all depends on the character and type of shoot
So at the end of the week, I have aching arms and legs. Walking like a gorilla because my legs hurt when I move around. and I've also gotten darker I think :((( ahhh whatever. Accepted another 2 coses one of which has a crazy gun by my standards and I have no idea how to start...
