End of year post

Probably the last post of 2013 and I'm starting off with bad news.. My dad might have developed glaucoma in his left eye.. That baka.. he already felt the symptoms before we went malaysia but kept quiet about it and endured the occasional distortion and loss of vision in one eye throughout the trip????!! We could tell his eye was causing him discomfort while in malaysia but never dreamt that it was so serious.

Today when we touched down and reached home he suddenly announced that he's going take the mrt and go Novena to see some eye specialist, from an article he saw in a magazine. Without making any appointment or even telling us beforehand. Without a handphone, not knowing exactly where the place is. I mean I know he has had little education and but I'm so angry and upset I almost burst into tears and seriously wanted to punch him for not taking better care of himself. Loss of vision is no joke, how dare he do this to himself and best of all not let my mum and I know.

Just looking at how he made a mark and folded the page of that article in the stupid chinese health magazine is so heart wrenching. He must have been so worried and scared all by himself while I was happily enjoying myself in malaysia. Urgh seriously :((((((((((((((

I bought some presents for you guys, very sweet smelling and moisturizing lip balm in adorable cupcake containers

Finally chanced upon and bought david's new album, the songs are wonderful~

I saw this tree from the car while stopping at a red light and thought the orange on the tree looked autumn-ish. It was too bright to judge if I managed to captured the colour and when I looked at it properly afterwards I realised the tree forms a heart :)

1/3 of what I bought in total I think. Mainly tee shirts to wear to school and 2 pair of bottoms for cosplay. I'm also really excited to try my first pair of dollywink lashes. They're too exp usually in singapore so I could only allow myself to spend ringit on them haha, there was some discount too.

This is lessie (lassie??) and she's so chubby she looks more like a bear. Really cute still :)

Long long post about photoshoot and EOY

After last weekend , a few things I realised.. I miss cosplaying female characters so much, so so much :'D and also, the difference between daiso lashes and the japan brand lashes is thhiiiiiiissssssssssss much

I didn't go all out for Princess Leia and did only the bare minimal make up with eyeliner because I thought adding fake lashes was overkill and would scare my band mates lol.

1. Laguna didnt need any blush, lashes or lip gloss. 

2. I got my hands on a few more cosmetics and helped out with Kai's shoot where I went ooh and ahh at her huge collection of make up.

Was itching so badly to try out my make up and doll myself up *__* the last time i cosed a girl was in july for CCS Bubbles

No time to try until last Saturday for bisca. When the fake lashes went on omg I was shocked once again at the difference lashes make. Was using the jewelove lashes mentioned in the previous make up post. I don't know whether it was a level up from the usual daiso lashes I've been using or if my technique has improved (lol) or if I was in particularly good condition that day but I was just blinking and laughing to myself in the mirror ahahaha. 

Anyways husbando was for the shoot on sat because of some wig and belt mishaps. At the actual venue, wig went on well and I only encountered a little problem with sticking the white ribbon at the top and bottom of the tube dress. Had fun in the toilet wahaha

Premise of the shoot was a shy first date where bisca and alzark met up and had a sweet romantic time feeding each other yum yums. Then some weapon action shots after that :) it actually started raining after we got our first few shots and completed the first scenario. Prompt indoor cafe shot wheeeee managed to get a nice table at TCC and spent a happy hour there having high tea and shooting. Might have been the best shoot of my life, got to sit comfortably in aircon and eat delicacies 8D more please.

It was still drizzling after we were done but we went on ahead to the next location at merchant road or something like that. Very nice place I never knew existed! Finished up the shoot there and I can't wait to see the photos! Zee was our photographer and despite not having a helper I think we survived well :)b

Shoot ended later than I expected and I had to quickly rush to my prof's house for a Xmas lab dinner.. Wanted to cab there but it was still raining and being the cab noob I am, I couldn't flag down any and took mrt in the end, having wasted 30 minutes already. Finally reached prof's house at 8-ish.. I think I surprised the lab people because I'm relatively quiet compared to the other 2 fyp mates and seeing me dressed up with such heavy make up must have changed tier impression a little... For better or worse I have no idea o_O ah wells prof's daughter is so cute!! And he dotes on her so adorable hahaha

EOY was the immediate next day and I changed a pair of lashes from the same jewelove lash to get a less sultry and more spunky look: 

Didn't look like Cater much and thankfully I got a huge help from the photog/helper Wei who was really good at styling wigs OTL wigs are one thing I need so much improvement on.. It's one thing to look pretty, but if the resemblance is missing then a bit no point ah.

For a group with members who seldom meet and are cosing together for the 1st time, I believe we did quite well and managed to make our way to the barrage by 2pm (i think) Yifen really did a good job coordinating and I'd like to think that the individual cosers were responsible for themselves as well :)

Sun was scorching and I could feel my legs burn even with the socks on, could barely open my eyes properly at the first location on the bridge I wonder how the photos will turn out there. One thing though, Cater has pretty and striking colours -- blue eyes and orange hair, and my overkill lashes LOL so shouldn't be too bad. 

I had quite a few photos taken and managed to walk around quite a bit. Sadly...... I didn't see any hxh cosers or any cosplays which caught my attention. Just Debito and Virus. Didn't buy anything too.. But it was fun because I was so happy with my wig and could walk around properly and my contact lenses weren't being a pain in the eye. I've confirmed that the green lenses for Laguna are defective since I wore the purple lens for Bisca on saturday from the same brand and they felt so comfy ;_; oh wells

Not the full team here but it was as many members as we could gather and squeeze into a front camera shot hahaha

My feet were hurting like crap at the end of the event because I was wearing ill fitting shoes the whole day whoops, had dinner at just asia and took the bus back to clementi with Yanx where we talked about HxH the entire bus ride XDXD so fulfilling to talk for almost an hour with a fellow HxH fan!!

My western blots turned out nicely today I'm happy and looking forward to getting my assay readings tomorrow!! Hopeful!

Double cos weekend

I know I said I wouldn't cosplay over 2 consecutive days of the weekend as much as possible but here I am again...

Feeling very jumpy now as I always do when cosing Bisca because she wears a tube dress and I don't like showing my chest much :( last shoot with liz hubby before she goes overseas for a few years.. 

                                       

The wig is so smooth and tangle free even after a photoshoot and 1 year of storage, with careful maintenance on my part of course XD Janice it'll be yours soon! Touched up the gun a little but did not modify it in any way.. My first ever prop whoo~ and it looks amateur ahaha

EOY is tomorrow and I've managed to complete the gun on time, though it isn't very well made, considering I modified it from a daiso toy gun. Thought it was a gone case at one point when it looked hideous even after the main components were assembled and I made the decision to slice off the base of the brown part to make a proper slant edge. Could have danced in relief when the gun started to look better LOL really really relieved. 

While doing a costest after styling the wig, I was hit by a sudden bout of utapri feels. Not bad sia hahaha and nope i'm not doing that character.. I'm a proper girl this time!

The costume has so many accessories and layers to it, I hope I don't forget anything tomorrow or bake to death at the barrage.. 

First week of december

I bought nail polish again... Was just looking for a top coat but got convinced to buy this pretty set for a bundle price ehehehe

3 nail polishes and a remover for $11.90. The remover actually reads "nail remover" I'm worried now lololol chose the top and base coats and the only shimmer colour they had. Now my nails match my psp wow!! Was that why I unconsciously chose the shimmery pink? XD

Never mentioned this before but the psp is not a solid pink but actually has millions of small shimmery particles~~ so pretty

Went with lab mates to vivo for dinner last week and we were greeted by this :))

Bad idea to go out at night after lab especially if there's also lab the next day.. I was so tired I could hardly move after getting home. Dinner was nice though, we had pastamania and went to daiso for a short walk after that.

I mentioned I had no time for PC games but I went back and finished up mink's reconnect route :') it definitely gave more feels than clear's. The nostalgic music, mink's expressions, voice and actions were all so touching.. And when the ending song started playing with the credits rolling in, I almost flopped back onto my bed because I was so happy and full of feels.. Then the screen stopped at this and..... photo chance!!

Will probably be super duper busy next week because I have 2 lab presentations due and 2 characters to prepare for next weekend's shoot and event. And I need to do as much as possible in lab since I'll be escaping to m'sia from the 19th till 30th..... haven't tell prof yet HELP

Post exam shopping

Finished my last paper of the sem this afternoon at 3pm :) shared a cosmetic sales post on fb asking if anyone was interested to go with me and Kai was also interested wheeee she contacted me through various channels, worried that I had left without her when I was only not replying because I was having my exam hahaha~~ so off we went to the ulu office at red hill ahaha it's really hard to locate the office, fortunately I've been there once so it wasn't as confusing this time.

This post is going to be me fangirling over my purchase okies hahaha now u all will see how crazy I am :( my other passion after anime manga cosplay and seiyuu

So I got another blush... Help.. That makes 3 of them now. But I love them all!!! I really love my blushes. The first one is from étude house which is shimmery, then I bought the non shimmer eyemazing one last year from the same office sale and finally I picked up this cream mousse formula today because I've been interested in mousse texture cosmetic after buying the maybelline mousse foundation recently. Anyways the colour looks nice on my hand and it blends easily.

Slightly shimmery and has a faint fragrance. I have doubts about how long it will last without rubbing off but we'll see this December after I use it during eoy :Db the packaging is really cute and compact, I'm happy with it!

Next I bought the jewelove lashes no.1 while kai bought no.7. We exchanged a pair afterwards ^_^ can't wait to try them during eoy along with my new eyelash glue! Finally spent the money and bought a respectable tube of glue which I hope will last me long long and work well.

Spent $25 in all~ This also reminds me that I have yet to try on the eyemazing lashes I won last time X____X really paiseh cos I chose to use another pair for Bubbles. I've only been doing male characters after that and they had no need for such pretty long eyelashes.. Will see how and definitely use them soon.

Kinda stopped talking about anime and my games but rest assured (lol) I'm still watching hxh, uchuu kyoudai every week. For this season I'm watching nagi no asakura which has a lovely ending song, ace of diamond which is my baseball fix, samurai flamenco which also has a lovely ending song and kuroko no basket 2. Ohh ya diabolik lovers too!! I may want to take up log horizon and Kyoukai no kanata but no time sia.

Games wise.. I'm currently playing the wand of fortune on my beloved psp and on my third route featuring noel. The first 2 routes were sweet but the plot was considerably weaker out of the games I've played-- nothing touching or extremely romantic to make me fangirly. Halted my PC games because I have too much to do on my laptop, no time for games there lololol

This wraps up my end of exam post! I'm starting all my serious experiments at lab tomorrow..... A little sian but no choice lah. Hope I'll get good results and that nothing goes wrong :))) meet up soon yyyyys!!

Updates on life

Finals are almost over, but this is the first time there's no significant sense of relief because real holidays aren't coming until next year.

Nevertheless I'll be able to take a break from studying after getting home from lab after the coming monday. A break from studying but I also need to rush my gun and style the wig!! XD at least I'll have more fun with that I guess.

Totally packed december, I don't have time for the dialovers shoot we initially planned to have in december, the rest of the team are busy too... My weekdays are completely tied down because of school.... Really really miss my freedom and the days of playing games the entire day at home.

Visiting the tailor auntie next sunday with the school cos team for a team bonding outing hahaha in preparation for eoy which is 3 weeks away. Also digging out my Bisca wig and shotgun because I'm having a farewell shoot with Liz before she flies overseas for 2 years :(

Then I'm going Malaysia for the last week of december :)

Went with Mum to imm yesterday because I wanted a short break from all that mugging. Bought new sony earphones because the left earpiece of my previous pair died on me on the day of my tumour bio finals. HOW TO LISTEN TO LECTURE RECORDINGS??! 

Pretty happy with the new pair :) which is slightly more expensive than the prev one so I hope they'll last longer and sound better whee~ 

My mum was so cute, she actually wanted to go Daiso at IMM because my uncle bought a pair of slippers there and she wanted to get a pair for my dad. She also wanted shower caps lololol. In the end she didn't get any because the shower cap quality felt too cheapo and they didn't have a suitable shoe size. Instead she got some dry wipes for the mop thingy and I got this!!!!

Just 2 dollars and the colours are lovely. I swatched my hand and the 3 lighter browns look especially lovely. Can't wait to try them on properly with the primer and all ^_^ Quite shimmery and the pigmentation seems ok given it's just $2. Hope there won't be too much fallouts on the face though, can't tell yet. 

Had time some weeks ago to try on this particular wig which will be used next year. It's freaking heavy omg, the heaviest wig I've tried on. Very pretty curls and volume, hopefully with some trimming it'll look even better. Got to make an ahoge too, might document the process :D

Roadshow thingy at the med block last last week ^___^ these were prizes for a lucky dip. I tried twice, got kimwipes (aka tissue paper) and a bag of 50ml tubes. Aish.. Really taken with the sweet white shark at the top. 

AFA this year

Finally finished my test and presentation and submitted 2 essays on tuesday. Time for event recount!

Woke up with a stomachache on saturday which bugged me the entire mrt ride from the west to pasir ris X_____X it was really bad I even considered getting off early to use the toilet somewhere. I think it was because I was excited to see Suwabe LOL and just nervous on the whole.

Took me some time to get to the chalet, had to ask for directions twice and didn't manage to find the way until this kind uncle walked with me to where I could see the entrance XD that was certainly an ulu place.

I was one of the first few to be done with the make up and preparations so the leader asked me if I could help the others with their make up, and that he would 'send someone over' to have his make up done. Before that person came over though, I was given the task of cutting our coscards which were beautifully printed. I wish I had a clear photo to show here but I have yet to receive my set so yeapp XD soon my friends.

I was there, kinda struggling with the pen knife, ruining a few cards on my first stroke and switched to a scissors. Then this coser whom I find rather good looking but have never spoken to poked his head into the room and asked if I could put on make up for him, addressing me by my name 8DDDDD

Well, maktub. Becuase leader thought I was busy and very good at cutting the cards so he asked another guy to help mr bishie with his make up. I vented my frustrations through the cutting. LOL

Ok jokes aside, it started raining and to make things worse, the chartered bus left without us because we were late and the driver needed to fetch another group of people. GAHHHHHHH I was shocked when I heard the news but nothing else could be done.. In the end we went down in cabs, 4 by 4.

The time was already 2+ and I had planned to be at the ministage at 4pm to catch Suwabe at 4.30pm. Starting to feel anxious.. Fortunately there was no queue for the tickets so I bought the tickets for saturday and sunday and quickly went back to help the team prepare. Wasn't of much help though, cos it was mainly the amours which had to be pieced together and I was awful at doing those X___X and I was too jumpy about meeting Suwabe and being early so I couldn't focus on helping with make up and stuff.

I got to the stage on time, but a crowd had already formed... I was rather at the back. People were sitting on the floor, squeezing around. 

There was this girl on the phone who pushed past me, trying to find her friend. Got irritated with her and to make things worse, her bag zip caught the wig of a Miku cosplayer who was walking away. Miku started screaming -__- and I told her to calm down while untangling the wig. The other girl stayed on her phone the entire time. Seriously pissed off man.. After that I sternly told her that she needed to be more conscious of her surroundings 

Anyways I was still rather at the back of the crowd :(( Because of this, I wasn't chosen to answer any questions to win a gift bag which Suwabe and Yurin would sign. The lucky 20 ppl who were chosen were all standing nearer to the stage than I was. I waved my hands so wildly, to the extent of taking off part of my outfit and waving it to attract attention. Haiz.... disappointed. 

Suwabe was very charismatic on stage and did his best to answer all the questions in english which he wasn't particularly good at XD it was funny though, and almost everything he said made us scream. Yurin of course wasn't so popular but we politely cheered for her as well :)

All the jumping I did made my wig slide off OTL I later realised I must have looked hideous, which was perhaps why the emcee didn't pick me to answer questions LOL also my left contact lens started acting up X___X omg that was my worst nightmare. It was perfectly fine the whole morning so I didn't bring my contact lens case with me.... No choice.. there wasn't much I could do about it. Beared with the discomfort for the rest of the event, IT WAS HORRIBLE.

After the suwabe's segment I met up with CM for a short while before rushing to the toilet to fix my wig (with so many people staring as they queued for the cubicles) I just put on my dao face and did what I needed to do ahaha

Took lots of group shots after that and as expected...... my red left eye was evident in some  of the zoomed in photos taken later X___X not sure how many people noticed but since no one mentioned in the comments I'll  just keep quiet as well haha

Cabbed back to the chalet after that and had pizza, celebrated leader san's birthday XD i took some photos of him making a wish with the lighted candles in the dark and it looked like some horror movie ritual LOL

Even after taking off the contacts, my left eye remained sore and hurting so I kept them closed whenever I could.. Had a ride back to clementi by one of the team mates who also drove a few of us back to cck so I didn't reach home too late despite the busy day :)

Somehow, AFA seems incomplete for me this year, and I know exactly the reason why.. I did not take photos of any cosplays at all. None, nil, zero, except for one single camwhore which I've already posted in the previous entry. Didn't say hi to many people and I'm really really sad I didn't get more time to explore and look at the cosplays :(((((( It's not anybody's fault. When you're in a big group, it's bound to happen. Those in amour didn't even get to sit down and rest haha.. I'm in no position to complain. I did some time to explore the exhibits properly on sunday but it was still early and I wasn't able to meet my friends nor stay back long enough to say hello..

It was a really bad time to have the event I guess.. Took so much fun out of the entire thing because at one big corner of my mind the words 'test and essays' kept flashing.

I will make sure that I take more photos of other people next event and say hi to everyone I know. Also, get a bottle of eyedrops and keep my contact lens case with me all the time :)b

AFA 2013

Such a tiring weekend, I felt like I did so much, but can't remember anything clearly... I really need to write all these down or i'm afraid I'll forget more as the days pass.

I'll talk about the cosplay in another post, here's a photo to tide you over LOLOLOL 

Since the event is over I'm finally able to announce my character! Final fantasy Dissidia, as Laguna Loire and that's Zidane beside me ;)

Today I will be recounting all I can remember about sunday's events because I know I'm going to forget bits and pieces if I wait till tuesday to blog. 

PHOTO WITH SUWABE!

It was obviously going to be a tough fight to be within the first 20, from the mini stage experience on saturday which was an uncomfortable experience (elaboration together with the cosplay post next time) 

I set my alarm at 7am and went to sleep at 1am+ but it was a very light sleep.. I think I wasn't used to my new pillow and overall worried about not getting the photo and my test and essays blablabla.. When the alarm finally rang at 7am, I felt dreary.. Just very pessimistic about the whole thing. Luckily my friend was on whatssap and continued a convo we had the day before, which woke me up and got me out of bed, albeit 20 minutes after the alarm rang. 

As I suspected my left eye was swollen again so I didn't bother putting on contacts, just basic make up, did my eye liner and left the house.

When I got to the convention area my heart sank like nobody's business... There the area closest to the doors was filled with close to a hundred (?) people and already closed off. I was in the 4th row of the second freaking half of the queue. GGfmlbbq. Mostly guys though, at least the area where I was at. But all I could think of was that there were definitely more than 20 enthusiastic Suwabe fangirls in front of me and I was never going to make it.

It was exactly 9 when the event helpers allowed the first half people to stand up, and when I finally started moving, I jogged and dodged my way to the front. The guys didn't seem to be in as much of a hurry and were ok with me passing through hahaha. What were they there so early for O_o oh well thanks anyways, for letting me pass without fuss. 

The moment I got into the hall I just started running LOL I had studied the floor plan while waiting and knew where to go. Could have run faster but my bag was kinda in the way and didn't want to seem too crazy X____X yes I held back and just kinda matched the speed of the two utapri cosers who were running as well. I still reached before they did and queued behind two japanese ladies who in a way.. cut my queue. Oh wells I did a rough estimation and figured that I was still within the first 20 so I didn't insist. LUCKILY I WAS NO. 16 muack muack this is my new favourite number :DDD I couldn't bear to look at the people who were told by the staff that they didn't make it :( it must have been terribly disappointing

Finally received the ticket number after 10 minutes of waiting and almost thought I had to stay there the entire time till the actual photo session. Fortunately the animax lady told us that they had to clear the area so we were free to go but needed to be back by 10.30am.

I went to take a photo alone at the animax booth using the HxH background. I think I looked terrible LOL why won't the photographer guy let me do my own head adjustments XD nvm went to the toilet to touch up on my make up after that and walked around the rest of the booths. The one and only merchandise I bought:

Tokyo encounter!! Now I have Sugita and Nakamura on badges :D where should I pin them :DD

The Asia Kawaii Way booth also caught my eye because it was so pink and pretty and full of cosmetics. I kept looking at the nail polishes OWO so pr:etty!!! Wanted to try but there was no one there yet and when the lady was there, she was doing a manicure for another person so I moved on :) will check those out in stores if I see them.

Reported back at the animax booth and we all started hyperventilating, the crowd started forming which ironically blocked suwabe and yurin from view when they arrived. Was peeved that I couldn't see him over all the heards but nevermind, let them off this once because I'll get a photo with Be-sama XD

Took a test shot before the actual session to see if I looked ok. Was too excited hahaha look at my grin.

The actual photo taking happened too quickly before I could register much OwO I handed my bags to the lady who passed them to another lady at the other side of the green screen when I walked to stand between Be-sama and Yurin.

Only he said it in a looong drawn out way which allowed me to enjoy a few more seconds of his live voice right beside my ear LOLOLOL I was like asdfghajsdggasjhgd and since my glasses were off, I couldn't see the camera really well and Suwabe very nicely gestured to the camera lens. It didn't help much, wouldn't have helped much unless he were to cup my face or touch my head and angle my head to look at the lens properly but omy HAHAHAH omg what am I typing.

It was over so soon! I said thank you, bowed and stepped off the green area. I wish I looked at Suwabe more. After waiting forever for the photo to be printed out, I wished I stood closer to the both of them:

Comes in a nice clear plastic sheet :) I'm so attaching another layer of clear plastic over it to draw on decorations before bringing it to lab to put it on top of my desk. 

SEEING KIMURA RYOUHEI AND OUSAKA RYOTA (AND CAMEO BY A CHEEKY FUKUYAMA JUN)

When Jun jun appeared on the screen and all the girls started screaming, it just dawned on me that if my top seiyuu biases came to Singapore, and there's an interaction opportunity on a first come first served basis, I would never stand a chance against the rest of the girls. There are just too many. I just got lucky for Suwabe (and AFA didn't announce the photo taking segment, it was only posted on the Animax page so the awareness wasn't as great)

SEEING NANA MIZUKI IN SINGAPORE. AFA BANZAI!!

I also saw Angela, Elisa and Takanori san!! Angela was very funny and lively while talking about 'Boku ja nai' and made the crowd laugh XD Elisa was lovely OTL so pretty and just gave off an air of elegance :) Nothing much needs to be said about TMR and Nana, the crowd (myself included) was already screaming at the mention of their names LOL Nana looked so pretty as well, just like the photos I've seen.

It was a real pity they didn't sing during that meet and greet segmen, not that I was expecting them to but one can always hope yea?? XD

I had a great birthday :')

I spent sat night with the YYYYs and had a wonderful dinner + chatting session at Watami. The birthday bread with fruits and icecream was really yummy and special :D still waiting for photos from YZ wahaha THANKS GUYS!! If you had ordered the purple sweet potato drink I would have drank it happily lah XD

Sunday lunch was with my parents and I had a short shopping trip with mum after that ^___^ didn't buy anything but I LOVE MY MUM. I've been so busy these few weeks, barely spending any time at home with my parents T__T I feel so guilty especially since my mum fell sick with a cough last week. 

Sunday evening I went for the band's bbq at utown and my section surprised me with a cake! Black forest and it was really lovely eating in the dark with only my phone's flash light and the red charcoals to light up the place haha. Had lots of marshmallows and cheese tofu. I'm so glad that even though I didn't play for the concert this time, I'm still able to celebrate my birthday with my dearest section and the band this year :) 

Today I was really really surprised when my fyp mate woke me up from my nap and lured me out of the lab using the excuse of accompanying her to get pipette tips from one level down. Instead of walking to the stairs she walked to the side where the chairs are and I saw another friend with the cake XD HAHAHA the cake was sooooooooo good but too big for one person to finish off so we kinda shared it. I ate most of it though and was really full. Celebrated with the new phd girl in my lab whose birthday is one day after mine aka today. I also received capital mall vouchers from them. So sweet! 

So yup I had a very meaningful birthday and weekend. 

I also confirmed my suspicion of losing my black bra. Really don't know where it is... Hope I didn't leave it in a toilet after changing out last week for the ff shoot.. or it could have dropped out from my bag during the ff shoot. (sorry to those who saw it after the shoot and had to ask around for the owner) I really can't remember what bra I was wearing that day. Yes I was too tired to change out of my shirt and binder so I went home like that ehehehe

Crazy weekend

I will never cosplay two days in a row again... or try my best not to *______________*

Band concert was on saturday and I was asked to help at the front of house. Was planning to wear my nice black dress but but the exco wanted a little entertainment-- asked us to cosplay characters from series which songs were being played during the concert. The theme was oscar winning music so plenty of series eg mary poppins, sound of music, pochohantas, star wars etc. 

We decided to go with Princess Leia a few days before the concert and really.... good job to the exco for getting the bathrobe and white dress, if not I would have firmly declined to dress up. The vice president was very determined to make this cosplay happen (in contrast to my low enthusiasm) totally did up my hair too :) 

We also had a Darth Vader and John Smith so yeeeeaaaap! All turned out well. The music was very enjoyable, I could type an essay about my feelings for each song but I'll just keep it in my heart because I'm dead tired and want to talk about more exciting stuff. 

After the concert ended, almost a third of the band went to holland V to have supper. I skipped dinner but wasn't extremely hungry even then... Cosplay does this to me always, it makes my hunger disappear -_- 

I was lucky enough to get a ride back to school with a few other band mates, and the driver wanted to drop by Utown to get his stuff. It was close to 1am? I dunno. He spotted an indian guy lying on the ground at the busstop. O_O the guys went to prod him but there was no response.. he was breathing though. They didn't smell any alcohol though I caught a whiff of something and passed it off as cologne since the others said it wasn't alcohol. We called campus security who told us to call utown security. The security came to poke at the unresponsive guy shortly after and eventually called the police and ambulance because the guy was totally not responding.

Epic sia, seeing the paramedics and police do their stuff. Fortunately they managed to get the guy to react by pinching him LOL we should have thought of that aiya..... The guy threw up after a while and we realised that he was dead drunk. This also explains the plastic bag under his feet when he was on the ground. We actually thought he slipped on the plastic bag, fell and hit his head or something -__-

The policewoman was super fierce and kept handing him his handphone to call his friends to take him back to his room. He couldn't even open his eyes, much less speak properly and kept puking for a while, even stepping on his puke. X__X The paramedics poured water over his head to wake him up and rubbed an ice bag under his shirt haha he kept squirming LOL it was torturous to watch. Then the drunk tried to stand up and walk home repeating very loudly in a slur "trust me on this" (that he can get back to his room without calling his friends) and proceeded to stumble around hahaha and the policewoman was like "excuse me, you're puking all over the facilities"

We left after a while and almost 15 mins later when we passed by the busstop again, they were still there LOL

Anyways reached home at 2+am and quickly went to bathe and wash off my make up. Left the hair spray in my hair and went to sleep though.... too tired. I literally dropped into bed but couldn't sleep FML. Probably still high from post concert and the dead drunk guy incident. Also my stomach was really bloated and uncomfortable to sleep on because it was full of air since I skipped dinner. I think I got only 4 hours of bad quality sleep. Never again am I letting myself go without food for such a long period of time.....

My eyes were blood shot today but I still had the ff re-shoot which I die die had to go for because I screwed up the previous shoot as mentioned a few posts before. Long story short, I enjoyed myself much more today because wig issue was resolved and my contacts were totally fine, save for my blood shot eyes from lack of sleep. They started tearing towards the end though.. Must have been too tired.. I also knew the photographer and there was much more interaction and I think I was able to get good shots :)

Looking forward to the ff photos this time. No camwhore photos to post from the shoot but I'm pretty satisfied with the shoot today. Good night!

Hello Sunday Night

Time is flying, I'm actually feeling a little depressed about fyp right now. Prof is really nice but I dread seeing him now. The weeks just seem to pass by without me accomplishing much. I'm having trouble getting my last set of mutations in the right vector and this is the most pressing issue. Darn ittt why can't I even do simple cloning stuff. Results aren't coming to me. I'm not getting anywhere.

Had a relaxing weekend, got some revision done for tumour bio and watched anime. I'm on a baseball craze right now after watching Ace of Diamonds. Went on to watch One Outs and I have this urge to re-watch Ookiku Furikabutte again.

The weekend has been cooling but I resisted the urge to take naps. That's it, that's my weekend :')

Photoshoot over!

The photoshoot is over! One of the more comfortable costumes out of my recent coses, but has it's own set of problems as well.

It was a novel experience shooting in a studio, with limited space, impressive reflectors, huge flash (i don't know what all those things are called), backdrops and stuff. I'd be honest, it was a precious and valuable chance which I should be soaking in and appreciating with my whole soul but I was in pain and very uncomfortable for most parts T_____T 

My left eye was giving me hell and the irritation just refused to go away. I took off the lens, washed and put it back on a few times  but it still didn't work. That's the first time something like this has happened :( contacts used to never give problems. I suspect it's because of my 'no contacts, spectacles only' operation which kinda made my eyes unaccustomed to wearing contacts, especially a 16mm lens so suddenly.  

Many many factors lah, I never used to order ifairy lens because I thought they would be too huge for my tiny eyes. I don't know if this is a one time event or it'll happen every time I wear larger lens....... hopefully it'll be ok next time, because I will definitely be encountering these lenses again T___T so yea my eye kept tearing, smudging my eye liner. The crying also gave me mucus which I needed to sniff  up continuously and wipe, smudging my make up again. 

My eyes were red and teary as a result.... the others kept telling me not to cry lol. Immediately took off the contact lens after the shoot, so I was half blind. Luckily I had a ride home and could sit back and close my eyes during the trip. The pain persisted until I fell asleep yesterday, and my eye was seriously swollen. Fortunately it's much better today and the swell is almost gone. I will need to try the contact lens on again after my eye has recovered to see if the irritation is still there though :(

On to problem 2 which can be solved more easily I hope.. My wig kept sliding back urghhhhhhh. My fault entirely. I need to tighten the straps -__- quite angry with myself for not adjusting, especially since I kept taking it off due to the sliding problem and had so much time to make adjustments but I did not. Oh wells. Also need to improve on the styling omg it's unacceptable even by my noob standards. Yup so wig was a second major problem, I kept pulling my wig and rolling the spikes together even when taking photos, it was quite bad. I'm actually quite afraid to see the official photos... 

Make up problem was still there but not as bad... I tried to recreate what liz did for me when she stayed over but failed terribly. She helped me again after that, but it was after my solo shots so too bad for those photos hehe. I tried contouring...... it was ok for a first try I guess. Much to be improved on. I know my character is a bishie character but that's still no excuse for looking so girly. Ah wells.

Here's a manly photo though :D taken from Kai Lin who was a great help with everything!!! Here you can see my attempts at contouring. I darkened the eye to nose area, hair line, jaw line and tried the hollows of the check. Too heavy at the cheeks and it didn't join to the right part of the hair line whoops. More on the eye to nose area next time! :)b

No make up face yo!!!

I know I've been going on and on about the gun but here's the rest of the outfit, taken the night before the shoot. I made the dog tag necklace, belt, shoulder and hanging thingies myself :D the shoulder part was a pain but I managed it!

So all in all, the props and costume turned out to be the least of my worries (first time sia!) haha I'm really really glad that I joined the team, the people and characters I took on helped me improve so much and gave me the chance to try so many new things. Prop making, costume making, make up, photoshoots (Y) very very lovely, funny and cool people in the team who help one another and are so good at cosplay :Dbb   

Updates~

Today I collected my jacket from the tailor auntie at amk, in time for the photoshoot next next week. Because there's not much time left I really need to work and get the shoulder part out... I actually have most parts ready, just need to piece them together and that is the toughest part x_x then again when I get down to it, things may not be so bad :l

Will need more velcro. Hey it's a level up :D I used to tape everything when it comes to clothes. Now I'm  turning to velcro. When will I switch to sewing? Hehehe when I get a sewing matching perhaps,which isn't going to happen in the near future.

When it comes to props I hope to experiment with wood and plastic someday (Y) oh btw I made improvements to the gun. It's a long story-- I know I said I wouldn't touch it until the shoot but a friend from the team came over to stay the night last sat and she gave me so many suggestions which were also improvements I would have wanted to make eventually. Like adding details to the back portion.

It looks much shinier now, though most of the shine was painted on haha! She also helped me try out the eye make up for Laguna, it's the first time I've done eye make up specifically to look like the character. I've always just been doing generic looks, being the noob I am. It was awesome, no photo though because I was zzzzz. It was close to 2am when we stopped the make up experiment and moved on to the gun.

Also I'm so proud of myself for altering the jacket today. It's a simple alteration, using safety pins at the back to make the jacket more open at the front and fitting to my body. Proud because I copied this exact method from another awesome coser whose shoot I helped out with last week and it turned out surprisingly well for a first try. Honestly I looked rather out of proportion due to the jacket almost overlapping with my belt. I'll have to wear the belt super low to create the illusion of a longer body but this in turns shortens my legs. URGH I give up. Maybe things will balance out when I put on the boots. If not, sorry guys you're stuck with a short and sulky Laguna hahaha

School wise... I'm considering the option of continuing with phd after honours. I had always wanted to work after graduating and never gave further studies more thought because my grades aren't that good anyways. But after finding out more about the conditions and benefits from the phd student in my lab, this option sounds really tempting. And I received so much encouragement blabla saying that I'm suitable for phd and so on. Not sure how much of it was true or just flattery but yea now I'm thinking about it :)

I've decided not to play for the band concert this semester. I've been harbouring this thought since school started but whenever I see my friends during practices I realise I miss them so so so much, I just can't bear to leave.

The first time I met the band peeps again after my total absence during the 3 months holidays, I felt so emotional because I missed them so badly. It wasn't about the saxophone or the music making any more but my section mates and all the people I knew throughout my 3 years with the band.. Sigh 

I could have dragged it on and eventually played for the concert.... but Sunday practices which start tomorrow is the breaking point. I haven't been to a single sectional this semester-- the first time I was very sick, second week was e-learning, and the latest session I was busy with lab which ended late so I decided to skip and go home even though bus D2 which goes to the band venue came first. As I watched the bus leave I knew that I wouldn't be playing with the band this semester.. Aiya sorry for being so drama but I'm really sad ok :'(  

I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I skipped a combined practice deliberately so yup rather than miss the sunday practice, I smsed my SL to inform her.. My conductor is in better health so I won't be so worried about him. The sax section has quite a few new members and is in good hands under the SL so all will be well :')

Hope I won't regret this decision. 

It's done!!!!!

I fixed on the final part yesterday-- too excited to post after taking the photos this morning and I forgot to add blings or cartoons. Disclaimer: This is a toy made up of mostly foam okies

The back portion looks really flat and I can definitely improve on it.. but nope i'm not going to be touching it these 2 weeks until closer to the photoshoot.

Probably going to hold it like this lol. Good thing it's quite light, if not my right arm is going to become more muscular then my left with all that lifting.

There's a mini crosshair thingy lmao, hope no one gets a close up of it because it's really badly carved.

I spent..... like a couple of months on it? Took a long break in the middle after covering the whole thing with black foam because I was stuck at finding the best method to make it shine. In the end it was back to the principle of getting down to doing it because you never know what works and what doesn't until you try. Sniff sniff if I had started experimenting earlier I would have been done earlier as well. 

Same for the belt and the shoulder thingy. As of now, belt is done but shoulder part is not!!! HELP

Learning points: 

PVA glue is wonderful

Acrylic paint is wonderful as well and can paint almost anything

Use nail polish remover to clean paint brushes

Priming the foam does help with spray painting afterwards but not much. Multiple coats are a must :(

Updates on lab:

PI is away so we're out to play! No lah, just that I'm more inclined to leaving early once i'm done with the experiments for the day. And no lab meetings! So I can wake up later :'') I appreciate that very very much.

Prop progress

Have I told you about my love hate relationship with all my weapons and props, especially this one 

Unbelievable number of coats of paint and it's still not smooth and shiny.. All the cartoons and bling are to make it look cute and un-threatening so I won't be arrested for making 'firearms' hahahaha. Please arh, it's 2 bits of pipe thingy, foam, glue and more foam-- can't shoot and if you use it like a stick to hit people it'll probably bend or break.

The right side was already ok by my standards but while spraying the other side, the paint kinda dripped over and caused it to stick to the newspaper. Now I need to spray it again urghhhhhhhh endless frustrations

Anyways :) this baby is longer than my arm and I spent really long on it (procrastination included) I really wanted it to be shiny and since I made the effort to make it shine, I hope it will pay off and the gun will llook beautiful and shiny during the photoshoot+ event 

I'm stressed over the weirdest things.. A few days ago I woke up at 3.10am and couldn't get back to sleep because the lab was out of maxi prep tubes and I really needed to get my plasmid preps out. I got out of bed to get some water and suddenly The Conjuring popped into my mind O_O was trying to recall in the movie what the timing which all the clocks stopped at was..  I also dreamt that I was so tired that I completely forgot about my lab meeting and only barely made it to school for my infection and immunity lecture. It was a terrible feeling OTL

Ok now that i've calmed down a little more things start to get messy in my head. I hope they will be making their appearance on stage after the big shot singers because I will have a better chance of getting a seat. I hope their merchandise will not be too expensive because I really want to shake hands and see them up close. I hope my hands won't be sweaty.

Imagine all the Kise cosers OMG my friend who recently did Mukami Kou from dialovers more blood has such awesome timing!!!!! I'm so jealous!! If she were to go for Kimura ryohei's handshake session in Kou's costume I'm sure he would say something more to her AHHHHHH jelly~ 

Also saw a Maoh sama duo during STGCC ahhh how nice T__T ok tbh i'm not that hyped for Ryouta hahaha but everything is lovely because the both of them are coming.

I hope the event schedule comes out soon. I will plant my butt in the stage room and scream my lungs out. In costume =/ ahhhhh cross dressing for AFA... Of all times why can't I cos a pretty girl when it really matters. Will meet them dressed as a rugged guy (very handsome ok) with a huge gun. GOod job me. 

Speaking of which I need to rush for the costume OTL photoshoot is a month away

Sick :(

I have fallen sick again :( I swear staying in air conditioned places weakens my immunity like nobody's business. So does bathing in the morning. And I went to uhc after my 8am lecture which I totally slept through.. Free medicine and consultation omg what have I been doing for the past 3 years visiting other clinics...

Took a break from lab, skipped my second lecture and went back home to sleep. I'm sneezing so much it's scaring me lol so tiring. Tomorrow I will start my midi prep and all.. Quite a slack week I predict but with my flu it's not going to be easy...

I need a break from activities during weekends.. Especially ones that I am not so interested in hehe because I got asked to join a dialovers shoot next next sun and welllll I'm very very interested. Not confirmed yet because I need to ask for permission from my group leader :X Cosplay politics how interesting :)

Went for stgcc which was the breaking point for my body after the csi anniversary dinner on Saturday night at sentosa. Photos for both events on fb!

Game rants :D

I finally understand a bit of how my prof feels when another group beats him to and publishes a paper that he too, has been working on.

Only in my case it's referring to cosplay. A few days ago I was looking at photos of Kamigami no Asobi on facebook and telling myself that I should take on this series. Today I realised that the costumes and props my NTU friend has been preparing for STGCC this weekend was for her Kamigami no asobi group T__________T just feeling like I've not been invited to a party LOL no lah, I'm not close to them and am always too shy to join in when they talk about seiyuu so they probably don't know I'm a fellow fan.

At least I have my Diabolik Lovers which I'm so happy with :') it may not be a very good cosplay but every thing feels really different when you're doing a series you fangirl over and love. I can imagine how delighted I'll be when I finally get to cosplay Aoba. Speaking of which........... my Aoba's not going to come to life unless I do something about it. All I have is the wig right now -pats back- I promise I'll get him out next year.

Also playing DRAMAtical Murder: Reconnect which is the fandisc after the initial game... I find it hard to finish the routes.. The H scenes are too much for me to handle X_X I mean I loved the game and the characters but urgh it was tough clicking through the H parts. Just give me my happy ending and a little bit more story and I'll be satisfied. I've finished Clear and moved onto Mink because curiosity got better of me. Will definitely finish everything lah, because of the voice actors as well :)) The mini game is really cute though!! XD Lovely game on the whole   

My wallpaper has changed from Noiz to the Ken ga Kimi guys. Each guy has his own wallpaper but I chose the group one. They look so lovely:

Even my mum thought it looks pretty and agreed to change her laptop wallpaper to that sweet guy on the extreme left. Wow she actually picked one of them XD 

More on my PSP, previously mentioned that I finished Hakuouki. Started on Last Escort while I was almost done with Hakuouki and seriouslyyyyyy Last Escort is impossible to complete without consulting a walkthrough. I thought I was going well with Rei (voiced by youkyan and so I went after him first) but one day in game I received a call from him saying that he had quit his job at the club and will be going overseas. Game over O_o motivation hit a new low and even when I followed the walkthrough I had to replay a few more times before I finally got his good end. 

I picked my next host using a number generator and got the Shota.. With the help of the walkthrough I managed to get all his CGs except for one but that's enough thankyou hahaha.

Then I went after Hiragi aka the sexy voice club manager who's also a host and a huge pervert LOL it was a very entertaining route and suwabe's voice ^/////^ Left with 3.5 more characters but decided to take a break lol it's really tiring

DC girls Symphony was another game I got my hands on and in contrast it's a breeze to get through I'm relieved :)) Went after Kujou sensei because he's voiced by Hirarin. Too bad he's the brother (though not related by blood) so that felt strange. Unspectacular route anyways and the ending was mehhhh. Next up was the gentle twin Kohei and I enjoyed the front part of his route very much, it's the sweet school romance I would have liked to experience myself LOL but the later half was ridiculous O_o The rest of the routes were nothing special. I'm just starting Ryohei's route, since he's the main guy I'm raising my expectations -skeptical look- Saving the strange cat boy route for last haha heard that it's going to be a tear jerker -skeptical look again-

I also managed to get HxH Wonder Adventures to work on my PSP and OMG it's so hard T____T I really tried but i'm stuck at the first stage of the hunter exam with the half beast mystical people. It took me a couple of hours of on off playing to find the swamp master thingy and defeat it to get out of whale island. This is really not easy. Will save this game for when I have lots of time and brain juice to spare lol!

End of wordy post. Journal club presentation this friday and I'm excited + nervous! My mutations are working better now :))b will start on cell work soon

I'm fuming mad right now.

Mum just deleted my whole folder of game bookmarks, accumulated from 2 years ago. 2 whole years of game links, walkthroughs, interesting game sites.

She's just taking my old laptop to use once in a while so it doesn't go rusty and because it's old of course it'll be slow. Of all things to clear to free up the memory, she chooses to meddle with my bookmarks on google chrome. It's signed in to my gmail account and that saved me lots of trouble in transferring my whole chunk of bookmarks to my new computer.

Fucking deleted my entire 'games and walkthroughs' folder as well as my 'cosplay' folder where I keep links of sales items and reference photos of my past and future characters. Only realised the error when I saw on my current laptop browser the updated bookmarks bar with her stupid google finance link. Nice arh, delete my stuff, claiming it's slowing down the comp, and add your own.

That's not the main reason why I'm angry though. I gave her the permission to delete even though I complained a lot about why she wanted to delete, of all things, my internet bookmarks -___- so in a way I can't blame her. What made me so furious and ready to burst into tears on top of my agitation was that she insisted that I was in the wrong and should have created a separate account for my new laptop.

like what the heck. I access your already logged in email account on your old computer and delete all your emails because they take up soooooooo much space. When you access your email in your new computer and see all the mails gone, will you punch yourself and lament that you should have created another email account, one for every computer you use?? She keeps insisting that I should have kept a set of bookmarks on my current laptop GOD DAMMIT too angry to argue. Should have logged out of everything when I moved on to my current laptop but darn it I wasn't expecting her to delete things. She already has her own laptop where she can personalize all she wants for all I care. Don't meddle with my old stuff!!!

I did a search to see if I could retrieve the links. The solution said to keep the browser open and not to open a new one if it was already closed. Too bad, she had closed it and I had opened it again to show her my point about my gmail being linked to the chrome browser. Goodbye my links, goodbye forever.

URGH.............................. at least she didn't start her meaningless clean up with my mp3s or game files or photos. Still, I feel like punching something so badly

Operation no contact lens

Many many people have been telling me in person that I look stressed/ tired/ have eyebags. Most of them then ask me to take better care of myself and sleep more :) I truly appreciate the concern -touched- There was just this one guy who told me rather rudely that I look as if I haven't slept for days and later took my laptop claiming that I looked like I was going to pass out. I'm like.... _l_ no thanks I didn't ask you to take my laptop bag i'm sorry my normal face looks so dead and snatched it back. Rude TTM sia :(

That aside, to these comments mostly I just play along and blame it all on FYP.

The truth is, I've been sleeping much earlier ever since I joined the lab and corrected my sleeping hours to a very healthy pattern. Sure FYP is stressful and I don't get my afternoon naps no more but I have been sleep early and I don't know why my eyes look so terrible okay :( I can't help it that I have to wake early, sleeping earlier should solve the waking early problem right??

Then I thought about it long and hard... cos the number of similar comments are really alarming and scaring me T__T it occurred to me that I've been wearing my contact lenses for more than 12 hours a day for almost every single day after starting lab in mid June. Since weekdays are all taken up by lab, my weekends are packed with activities and I have to wear contacts as well -_- so frustrating.

My eyes are very tolerant towards contact lens and I feel no discomfort wearing my normal lenses so I always keep them on the entire day even after returning home T___T I mean after years of wearing contacts without any issues I kinda ignore all the safety stuff like not wearing for more than a certain hours and so on. 

Getting to the point.. I'm going on a 'no contacts, spectacles only' phase for a least a month, started yesterday. I will have to bear with my over dramatic thick framed specs, having my specs slip down my nose, having them fogged up when I feel hot, unsightly red marks on my nose bridge, messy hair when I put on or remove them and many more problems which I'm sure to discover soon. Will also try to take some eye supplements..
